Sweet Sadie's Ice Cream and Desserts, Dumfries

On a dark, windy, mid-week evening in Dumfries, there isn't an awful lot of life. Laughter from a pub, young lads heading into the takeaway. A few folk brave the weather along the fast flowing river. But if you head in the right direction, you'll come across a welcome beacon. A lit up ice cream, hovering over the road, and the declaration that "ice cream solves everything".

Sweet Sadie's is a super cute gelato, waffle and pancake takeaway. Opening midday until late evening, your cravings are catered for well after dark! The shop itself is spotless, welcoming, and smells delicious. The menu is slightly overwhelming - there is a LOT of choice. It's one of those places that variety works, though, rather than being a concern. They even have a "build your own" section for those really fussy customers.

The two girls serving were very pleasant, and they were really vigilant about checking for allergies and intolerances. Our orders only took 10 minutes to prepare, and were nicely packaged in recyclable boxes.

I went for the "Dirty Joe", which is a completely excessive concoction of waffle, cookie dough, ice cream, cream, brownie bites, bueno pieces and nutella. It was excellent. Mr went for the Milky Way Waffle, which was a similarly outlandish mix.

We did panic a little about finding somewhere to sit and eat, as there is nowhere to sit in. We wanted to find a bench by the river before the ice cream melted. We needn't have worried though, as it was frozen really well, and was perfect "spoon" temperature by the time we found a seat.
