The Hogwarts Escape, Virtual Escape Room

I am a MASSIVE Harry Potter fan. So when I learned that I could do a virtual, Hogwarts themed escape room, from my living room I was super excited to give it a go.

Danique Valster and Florine Komen have done an amazing job at making it a really immersive experience, with a great story line, lovely artwork, and incredibly tough puzzles! There were a couple of Americanisms thrown in the mix, but generally, they kept really well aligned with the Wizarding World as we know it. Whilst we meet new characters, the ones we know and love are hinted towards, without taking over the story.

I'll be honest - as a super-fan - with a Wizarding World themed office, 3 different copies of the books, 2 wands, a Marauders map and a life-size Demiguise - who thought she knew the books inside out, I went in a little cocky. I quickly discovered that not only do I not know as much about the Wizarding World as I thought, but I am also rubbish at maths! The hints provided are great - you've got the choice of having a little hint, various medium-sized hints, or just straight up being given the answer.

I would definitely recommend doing the escape room on a laptop or computer, as you really need that full screen immersion. There is no sound, but having a quiet room is a good idea because it does require a lot of concentration. Have a pen and paper handy, as there are lots of notes to be taken to help work out those clues! It took me a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes, but that was with the help of some hints.
